La Primavera or Printemps, was painted by Galileo Chini in 1914. Chini - based in Florence - was an Italian decorator, designer, painter, and potter. A prominent member of the Italian Art Nouveau movement, he also taught decorative arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence. He designed sets for several Puccini operas and he was responsible for several of the paintings and decorations in the Brandini Chapel, the church of San Francesco in Pisa and the Throne Hall in Bangkok. His work is colorful and allegorical, and has much in common with the Art Nouveau style of Gustav Klimt.
