Harry Wysocki was Charles' older brother and a very successful painter and illustrator in his own right. He attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA and was joined there by Charles after a couple of years.
One day, Charles was approached to do an Americana-style ad in a special edition of Life magazine. However, as he was too busy, he passed the assignment to his brother Harry who painted in the Americana style for the first time. This piece is one of three of his paintings now in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Museum.
After that, Harry was offered more Americana-style work. Afraid there would be confusion in the art world about two Wysockis painting in a similar style, the brothers agreed that Harry would use his real Polish name, Heronim, instead of Harry Wysocki for his Americana paintings.
Heronim's paintings display nostalgia for a simpler time before the internet and multi-lane highways. He researches pictures of old lighthouses or railroad stations and draws inspiration from these sources to paint intricately detailed masterpieces.
